In today’s world of rising gas prices, we can all benefit from the ability to save some money at the pumps. If you are looking for a gas card to meet your fuel needs, look into the Shell Saver card.

About Shell and Shell.us/SaverCard

Shell is an leader in the oil and gas industries, and operates in over 70 countries across the globe. Aside from providing energy products, Shell offers a full line of credit related services which can be used at their retail purchase locations. Some of the Shell credit products are provided via Citibank. Others, such as the Shell Saver Card, are offered directly from Shell.

What is the Shell Saver Card?

First of all, the Shell Saver card is not a credit card. Rather, it is a payment option that connects to your own checking account and withdraws funds for gas purchases. In a sense, its like an extension of your debit card.

But I don’t Need Another Debit Card!

You might ask “why do I need another card just to use funds in my checking account?” There is a benefit to using the Shell Saver card in lieu of your regular debit card. The Saver allows you to take advantage of Shell’s 2 cent discount per gallon. This discount applies for standard gas purchases or diesel fuel. Once your purchase has been processed, you will see a withdrawal from your checking account in the amount of the discounted rate.

The good thing about the Saver card is that it doesn’t cost you anything to use. You can say goodbye to interest fees, annual premiums, and enrollment costs. The card is totally free to obtain and use.

The only other potential fee that can pop up is if you use the Saver card without having sufficient funds in your bank account. If this happens, your bank may charge you extra fees for processing the transaction while having insufficient funds. This, however, is a bank initiated fee and does not have anything to do with the Shell Saver program.

Worried About Account Security?

Many potential users of this card will worry about giving up access to their personal checking account. But there is no need to worry, Shell has you covered. This card issues you a separate pin number which must be used to process a transaction at the pumps. Therefore, if the card is ever lost or stolen, no one will be able to make unauthorized purchases without knowing your personal pin code.

Also, since all charges on this card are handled by Telecheck® (a leading electronic check processor), transactions receive an added layer of security through Telecheck’s internal protection systems.

Is the Card Only For Gas Purchases?

The short answer is, no. You can use the Saver card to make in store purchases for food, beverages, and other convenience items. Nonetheless, you may only receive discounted prices when the card is used for gas. All other purchases will be drawn from your checking account at normal pricing. How to Qualify for This Card
To get this card, you need a valid U.S. checking account. Bank accounts are validated through the Telecheck® system before you can get an approval for the card. Since the card is not a traditional credit card, you do not have to undergo a credit check. The fastest way to apply is via the online system. You can visit Shell.us/SaverCard to sign up on Shell’s official website. You’ll need to know your driver’s license number and checking account information to complete the sign up.

Once your account is approved, you will get the card in the mail. As shipped, the card is already linked to your bank account, so no other setup is required. If you have any further questions, you can get more information at www.Shell.us/SaverCard.

I was robbed on February 10th and my Shell Saver Card was in my wallet. Can you cancel my previous card and issue me a new one. I am a Shell Retiree and really miss my discount. I do not have the card number, but hopefully you will be able to find my account. If you need to contact me, please use cell number.

      Dear Ms. McKay,

We’re sorry to hear about your being robbed. However, we’re not the department that can issue a new card on your account — just a place to apply for new cards. I would suggest finding one of your old statements for your existing card and looking for a phone number there. Best of luck to you in resolving this!

  2. Can you put a transaction limit on the card? Say if you only want your teenager to have access to $20.00 at the pump?
