Chipotle Mexican Grills have exploded in popularity in the United States in the last few years. As a result of their increased growth, they’ve begun to sell gift cards to customers who would like to give the gift of freshly prepared fast-casual Mexican food to their friends.
If you would like to check the balance of your Chipotle gift card, they offer an online portal to do so, as well as the ability to call their customer service hotline.
Checking Online
First, visit the Chipotle gift card website. You will be asked to enter the 16 digit number located on the back of your gift card. Depending on the age of the gift card, you may have to scratch off a protective coating to reveal the 16 digit code.
After entering the code, you’ll be asked to enter your email address to deliver the current balance of the card to your inbox. While adding your email address is optional, Chipotle will email the current balance to you if you’d like to keep a record of it outside of just the website’s platform.
In addition to your email address, you may also be asked to enter your mobile phone number. Chipotle will text your current gift card balance to you. All standard data rates apply to text messages sent to phone numbers registered in the United States.
Finally, you’ll be asked to complete a reCaptcha code to confirm your identity and to retrieve your balance.
Gift Card Not Working
If you know that the gift card you have currently has a remaining balance on it, but the card won’t swipe or pay at a Chipotle retail outlet, you can contact the Chipotle corporate office.
If possible, have the 16 digit card number handy when you contact the corporate customer service representatives, the receipt number from the original purchase of the gift card, and the information about both the location of where you first purchased the gift card and the location of where your gift card failed. You can also provide date and time information to help determine if there was a technical error at the restaurant when you were trying to complete your purchase.
In most cases, Chipotle will verify your gift card purchase and will send you a replacement card in the mail or for pick-up at the nearest Chipotle.
Toll-Free Number
The toll-free phone number to contact Chipotle about broken gift cards or to check your remaining balance is 1-877-925-4878. If you lose the number, you can also call a local Chipotle restaurant during their non-peak hours before lunch to have them run the information on the card for you from the cash register.
Buying Bulk Gift Cards
While it’s possible to buy gift cards directly from a Chipotle restaurant, if you’d like to purchase 25 or more gift cards, you’ll have to complete the order online. Chipotle restaurants don’t often carry enough cards to satisfy bulk ordering.
Chipotle Coupons
To get the most value out of your Chipotle meal, you can apply coupons to your order to further reduce the cost. Unfortunately, Chipotle coupons are few and far between, as the company prefers to only give out coupons at corporate gathering or at locally sponsored events. If you’d like to be notified about upcoming events where coupons might be distributed, follow Chipotle on Facebook or use their email alerts program to register your email address to the city you live in. Chipotle will then email you when a corporate event is happening near your home and give information about how to get tickets.
